Chapter Programs

The Boston Chapter offers an array of programs designed to meet the professional development and support needs of our membership. Programming includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Professional Development

General Body Meetings (GBM)
Monthly sessions dedicated to sharing information that supports the professional development needs of our membership. GBMs feature guest speakers and panelists who cover a wide range of topics, including economic development, professional development, public policy, and financial planning. General Body Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM. Please refer to the Events section for specific meeting details, including topic and location.

Member Resume Review
Our HR Committee annually provides resume review and critique for chapter members in advance of the NBMBAA Conference & Exposition.

Conference Prep Workshop
We provide an overview and strategy guide for members planning to attend the annual NBMBAA Conference & Exposition. This workshop helps attendees maximize their conference experience.

Student Support

Leaders of Tomorrow® (LOT)
Leaders of Tomorrow® (LOT) is an enrichment program for minority high school students. The primary objective is to strengthen students’ leadership, academic, and interpersonal skills, providing a foundation for success in both their personal and professional lives. LOT programming includes activity-based workshops, seminars, case studies, and formal mentorship.

University Outreach
We support African American MBA and undergraduate business students in the Greater Boston area by cultivating and maintaining relationships with local business schools and MBA programs, and coordinating with surrounding collegiate NBMBAA chapters.

Scholarship Program
The Boston Chapter offers scholarships annually to LOT students, as well as undergraduate business and MBA students attending a university in the Greater Boston area or originally from the Greater Boston area.

Economic Development

Pro Bono Consulting
We leverage the skill sets of our members to provide small and medium-sized Black-owned businesses with free (up to three months) advisory services.

Entrepreneur Roundtables
Quarterly roundtable discussions designed to equip participants with the knowledge and resources needed to successfully launch and grow ventures.

Signature Events

Boston Black Leadership Forum
The Boston Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc., in partnership with the Greater Boston Black Chamber of Commerce, hosts an annual forum that convenes leaders and members of Boston’s Black professional associations for constructive dialogue. The Boston Black Leadership Forum serves as a centralized space to discuss, strategize around, and address issues and opportunities impacting the city, state, nation, and the world.

Leadership Empowerment Scholarship Banquet
Our annual scholarship banquet brings together members, as well as corporate and community partners, to recognize outstanding leaders in our community while raising funds for the chapter’s scholarship program. Over the years, the Boston Chapter has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to graduate students, undergraduate business students, and LOT participants.
